Hello World 2.0

Ok, so the Wordpress site I had published here just had to die. While I love the idea of Wordpress, as well as its functionality when it comes to pushing content towards the readers - I just couldn’t live with all the hacks (read: plugins) necessary to force it to be somewhat speedy. Having an average load time of 1.5 seconds on a bare install, containing only the default “Hello World” post is not ok.

This site is not optimized in any way (so far) but it still feels more snappy than Wordpress ever did, which is fortunate since that’s the point with building my own stuff.

I’ll have to put in quite a few more hours of work before this site has all the functionality that I want it to have. This will however be a slow moving project, since being the father of a 3 month old boy pretty much removes the concept of hacking time.

Some features that will be added are:

• Comments/Discussion
• Responsive design
• Sharing of articles (preserving user privacy)
• Projects page(s)
• Link archive (learning resources, interesting articles, etc.)
